Clive Thompson / Technical Adviser, Institute of Risk Management

Clive has worked in insurance and risk management of some sort for over 40 years. He lived and worked in Africa and the Caribbean before working in broking in London.

He spent time with the International Risk Management Group specialising in captive management in the 90’s and worked with various domiciles on the Protected Cell Company concept developing various techniques to finance specific sector solutions for clients.

Clive worked for Willis Towers Watson (WTW) for 19 years on major risks latterly specialising in financial and professional service companies. During that time, he served on the board of the Institute of Risk Management (IRM). He retired from WTW last year and now works for 2 days a week as IRM’s Technical Adviser.

Clive edited and updated the core text book for IRM, in 2021 and supported the writing of the recent book from IRM on Climate Change Risk Management.
